Forest of Time: 32 Million Pixels of Living Nature
Created for the Grand Stairs at Happitat Bangkok, Forest of Time turns a monumental digital canvas into a living world that visitors can explore and transform together.
By scanning a QR code, each visitor creates their own unique digital Essence and enters the forest through their smartphone. From there, every action becomes part of the world on screen, bringing light back into the landscape, awakening Ancient Guardians and gradually revealing endangered and extinct wildlife.
The more people join, the more the forest comes alive.
At the heart of Forest of Time is a story about nature, discovery and bringing a lost ecosystem back to life.
Animals are hidden throughout the forest as fragments of light, waiting to be found. As visitors explore and interact together, these fragments begin to take shape, gradually revealing each species and returning it to the forest.
Every discovery also unlocks an entry in the Forest Codex, revealing more about the animal, its habitat and its conservation or extinction status.
Instead of simply telling people these stories, we turned them into something to discover. Play becomes exploration, and exploration becomes a way to encounter the wildlife of Southeast Asia.
A forest made of 32 million pixels
Behind the forest is a 32-million-pixel canvas running entirely in real time.
Forest of Time was built as a multi-user experience, allowing many visitors to enter and influence the same digital world at once. No controllers, headsets or wearables are needed. Your phone is your way in.
Behind the scenes, Unreal Engine, Ventuz and custom AI workflows come together in one real-time pipeline, computing every frame live for everyone in front of the screen at once.
Scope of work
We served as end-to-end creative and technology partner, handling creative concept, experience design, content production, and technical execution.
We designed the narrative world, visitor journey, and multi-user interaction mechanics, then built the real-time visuals and interactive technology behind the experience.
Built on Ventuz, the system lets multiple visitors act on the same evolving world at once - the forest responds live as audiences collaborate to reveal species and restore the ecosystem. Designed for public spaces, it's built for intuitive participation via visitors' own devices, with no controllers or wearables required.
Individual interactions become part of one shared environment. Essences appear, animals are discovered and the forest changes in response to what people are doing, creating a world that is never quite the same twice.
32 million pixels. Hundreds of visitors. One living ecosystem.
A forest that keeps growing
Since its launch, thousands of visitors have already entered Forest of Time and become part of its shared digital world.
